Those hiking trails that we enjoy using at Sugarloaf Mountain do not maintain themselves! Tools and training provided. Volunteers provide most of the maintenance on hiking trails such as the Appalachian Trail, the Catoctin Trail, and the northern peaks trail of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Helping out on a trail crew will give you an appreciation of what is required to maintain hiking trails and a feeling of accomplishment by contributing some of your time to help maintain the trails used by the hiking public. Bring work gloves, eye protection, water, lunch and/or trail snacks. Dress in clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and appropriate for the weather. Shorts are NOT recommended. Session will cancel for steady heavy rains and thunderstorms, but not light or intermittent showers.

We generally finish at 3:30 pm; however stay as long as you can.

Contact: Dave Jordahl
Meeting Location: Near half-mile marker B-8, where the blue-blazed Northern Peaks Trail intersects Mount Ephraim Road (refer to map link below)
